How Mexican Flower Jewellery is Made

by Heidi de Blonde 12 May 2025
Our collection of flower jewellery at Silver Bubble is particularly special to us. It's hand-grown and each bud, petal and stem is carefully and lovingly curated to create individual pieces that encapsulate the beauty of nature.

In the market in Taxco, Alicia Ronces Gomez has a stall selling silver flower jewellery handmade by herself and her family. The whole process, right from growing the flowers to setting them into resin and producing the final pieces of jewellery, is carried out in Alicia’s family house and garden terraces.

Real pressed flower jewellery from Mexico

Alicia's outside terraces are covered with pots of plants bursting with an amazing medley of flowers. Once the flowers are ready, they are picked and taken to the basement to be dried. With scrupulous attention and a lot of patience, the flowers are then integrated into beautiful bits of jewellery.

The flowers are then meticulously placed into pretty and creative designs and set with resin into the silver. Some of these designs include the iconic image of Frida Kahlo, one of Mexico's most celebrated painters. Her image adorned by vibrant flowers beautifully represents her artistic style and flair.

We wanted to share more about how flower jewellery is made, from the traditional drying methods to the meticulous design process and hope this has given you more of an insight!
